Board and tasks

The Kanban board is the heart of Planner. This is where you organise work into columns and move task cards as the status of each one changes. This page explains how to set the board up and how to fill in the details of each task.

Creating the plan and the columns

Each plan is an independent board. Inside it you create columns (buckets), which usually represent the stages of the work.

  1. Create a plan and give it a name.
  2. Add columns — for example “To do”, “In progress” and “Done”.
  3. Reorder the columns by dragging them to the position you want.

Adding and moving cards

Cards represent the tasks.

  • Click Add card inside a column, type the title and confirm.
  • Drag a card to another column, or use the arrows (↑↓) to reposition it; the new position is saved.
  • Use the Search tasks and tags… box at the top of the board to find a card by title or description.

The details of a task

Click a card to open the side panel, where you set:

  • Priority — Low, Medium, High or Urgent, each with its own colour.
  • Assignees — assign the task to colleagues in the organisation; the avatar appears on the card.
  • Dates — set a Start date and a Due date. Overdue tasks are highlighted in red.
  • Labels — create labels with colours and apply them to tasks; you can then filter the board by label.
  • Hours — record the Estimate (h) and the Logged (h), tracked by a progress bar.
  • Comments — add comments, with author and date, for the task’s history.

Recurring tasks

You can set a task as recurring (Daily, Weekly or Monthly). When you mark it as completed, Planner automatically creates the next occurrence with the new due date.
