Email — overview

Email is Foral’s native mail client. It works directly inside Foral, with no external program to set up, and keeps your data hosted 100% in the European Union. It is the European alternative to Gmail or Outlook.

What you can do in Email

Your inbox is organised into three areas: folders on the left, the list of conversations in the middle, and the detail of the selected conversation on the right. The main capabilities are:

  • Conversations (threads) — the messages exchanged about the same subject are grouped together, with the most recent one highlighted and the earlier ones collapsed.
  • Reply, reply all and forward — without leaving the conversation.
  • Attachments — receive and send files, with images embedded (inline) in the message body.
  • Drive links for large files — attachments above 25 MB are automatically replaced with a link to your Drive.
  • Save attachments to Drive — keep a copy of a file you received in your own Drive.
  • Custom domain — send and receive mail on your organisation’s domain.

Getting started

Open the Email tab in the navigation bar. Your inbox loads automatically. Click a folder on the left to open it, a conversation in the middle to read it, and use the compose button to write a new message.

In this guide

The following pages explain each area in detail:

  • Use the inbox — read and organise conversations, reply, forward, attachments and inline images.
  • Use a custom domain — set up your organisation’s email domain, with the authentication records it needs.
