Document editor — overview
The Editor lets you create and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations directly in your browser, with nothing to install. It is a European alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with your files hosted 100% in the European Union and compatible with Microsoft Office formats.
What you can do in the Editor
The Editor opens your Office files from Drive and preserves the original formatting. The main capabilities are:
- Edit DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files from Microsoft Office without losing formatting, as well as the open ODT, ODS and ODP formats.
- Create blank documents, spreadsheets and presentations from templates.
- Automatic saving of your changes, with no need to save manually.
- Collaborate in real time with several colleagues in the same file, seeing each other’s cursors.
- Comment and review with track changes and mentioning colleagues with @.
- Export to PDF in one click, from the editor itself.
Compatible with Microsoft Office
The Editor understands both Microsoft Office and LibreOffice formats. You can open a file created in Word, Excel or PowerPoint, edit it and save it back in the same format, with no conversions that wreck the layout. This makes it easier to work with people who still use other tools.
In this guide
The following pages explain each area in detail:
- Create and edit documents — creating and opening files, automatic saving, exporting to PDF and supported formats.
- Collaborate in real time — simultaneous co-editing, comments, track changes and mentioning colleagues with @.
