Calls and meetings
On this page you will learn how to start calls from chat, how to share your screen, how to record, and how to create instant meeting links to invite people from outside your organisation.
Starting an audio or video call
From any conversation, use the Call button in the header to choose between an audio call and a video call. It works both in 1:1 direct messages and in group channels.
- In a direct message, the other person gets a ringing call notification and can Answer or decline it.
- In a channel, when you start a call the other members see that there is an active call and can Join whenever they want.
- The call opens in a new tab, in the style of Meet or Teams, leaving the chat free. You can go back to the conversation and return to the call at any time.
Screen sharing
During any call you can share your screen with the Share screen button. The shared screen takes over the main area and the participants’ cameras shrink into a strip along the bottom. Anyone in the call can share; when someone starts a new share, it replaces the previous one.
Recording
Meetings can be recorded (screen and microphone). The recording is saved and available afterwards to review or share.
Instant meetings with a /meet link
To meet with people who do not have a Foral account, create an instant meeting link:
- On the floating action button in the Chat section, choose New meeting.
- Foral generates a short link in the format
/meet/xxx-yyyy-zzz. - Copy and share the link by email, chat or any other means.
Guests open the link and wait in a waiting room. As the host, you see each request and decide whether to Admit or Decline it. You can also end the meeting for everyone with End for everyone.
